What “Frozen 2” Taught Me About Building a Successful Life and Business

My daughter is 3 and she LOVES all things “Frozen” so naturally, I’ve seen “Frozen 2” about 4,832 times.

But something hit me the other day that is SUCH a powerful growth lesson that I had to share it.

In the opening section of the movie, Queen Elsa hears a mysterious voice and responds like all good Disney characters do: in song.

“Into the Unknown” is one of the standout tracks from the film, and it contains these lines:

> What do you want? ‘Cause you’ve been keeping me awake

> Are you here to distract me so I make a big mistake?

> Or are you someone out there who’s a little bit like me?

> Who knows deep down I’m not where I’m meant to be?

> Every day’s a little harder as I feel your power grow

> Don’t you know there’s part of me that longs to go

> Into the unknown? Into the unknown. Into the unKNOWN!!!

What occurred to me is how Elsa’s struggle is so true and relevant today, and how her situation is so common to many of us.

She knows deep down she’s not where she’s meant to be.

She feels the discontent getting stronger every day.

She has everything she thought she wanted, but somehow it’s not enough.

She needs more…but she’s afraid.

She’s afraid to leave the comfort and certainty of what she’s always known, yet part of her still LONGS to go “into the unknown”… why?

Because there’s LIFE there!

Elsa knows that even though her current situation is fine, it’s not FULL. She knows there is something more meaningful out there, but she doesn’t know how to find it.

That, of course, sets the stage for an epic adventure “Into the Unknown” that leads to a happy ending.

But real life isn’t always like that, is it?

It is so, SO easy for us to settle in to comfort and certainty in our lives and businesses, where all our needs are met, we know exactly what to expect, and we feel totally and completely safe…and empty inside.

And there is no guarantee of a happy ending.

If we were willing to take action to push forward into the unknown, who knows what amazing fulfillment we could find, what incredible impact we could have, what meaningful legacy we could leave?

But so often we don’t take action. We just stay right where we are, semi-satisfied for a while until our soul slowly withers away.

And no matter how much money we make or how many nice things we accomplish, that’s not a Truly Successful life at all.

The sad thing is that for most of us, there are SO MANY OPPORTUNITIES to take action and change our life! Yet it’s all too easy to either:

• hang back fearfully because we’re not willing to face the unknown, or

• charge ahead foolishly because we didn’t get clarity on WHAT and WHY we needed to change.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

If you’ve felt that discontent, heard the siren song of a deeper, more meaningful life but you aren’t sure how to get there, there is one simple step you can take to start your journey today.

Start a conversation.

There are plenty of people out there who are qualified and passionate about helping people like you achieve a deeper, more purposeful, more fulfilling life. It just takes you reaching out to ask for help!

Whoever you reach out to, just DO it. Once you do, you’ll have taken your first step into the kind of life that’s worth singing about.
