Jesus will cover your bases

God’s Hope for Your Heart from Matthew 11

JESUS WILL COVER YOUR BASES

When Jesus had finished instructing His twelve disciples, He went on from there to teach and preach in their cities.  (Matthew 11:1)

In Matthew 10 and 11, Jesus instructs His disciples and sends them away from home on a mission for Him. Then, when they go out, where does He go?

He goes to their cities.

Jesus’ followers are obeying the call of the Master, and in this season that call means their attention is drawn away from their homes. They aren’t in their cities sharing the Gospel…but Jesus is.

Nowhere in Scripture does being a disciple give you license to neglect your responsibilities. But sometimes there are seasons when God’s call means you can’t be as involved in your daily life as you’d like.

When that happens, don’t let worry or guilt rule your heart. Relax, Jesus has it covered.

So, in whatever season of life you find yourself, may you serve your family and manage your home as well as you can. And, when Jesus calls you to give some extra focus to the Kingdom for a while, may you take heart in this hopeful truth: Jesus will cover your bases.
