Peace and the Car Keys

Do you need some peace in your life?

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone.

The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me–practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.” -Philippians 4:4-9

The peace of God is a gift He longs to give His children, but it’s not automatic.  It is available.  He holds it out to those who will walk IN it by dwelling ON it.

Receiving God’s peace is as much about our focus as it is our faith.  We may believe in it, may need it and ask for it, but in a very real way, He’s looking to us to appropriate it.  He has given us the keys but it’s up to us to start the engine and hit the gas.

Don’t focus on the situation in which you need peace.  Focus on the Savior who offers it, and as your mind dwells on His Word, His deeds and His heart, your peace will come.

The God of peace is already with you.  Now, turn the key and go with Him!
