God’s Hope for Your Heart from Matthew 22
JESUS IS MAKING EVERYTHING NEW
Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they will neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like the angels in heaven.” (Matthew 22:29-30)
Have you noticed how easy it is to get consumed with the pleasures and problems of this life? We have ways of doing things —good ways, good things— that are almost impossible to imagine being without.
We marry and are given in marriage, and for some it’s like heaven while for others, like hell. Either way, it’s how we do things. It’s how the world works.
But Jesus is building a new world.
Jesus is building a world where the greatest moments of wedded bliss are eclipsed by a joy far greater than any human connection we’ve known. It’s a world where the freedom of the single life is channeled into something greater than any prize or purpose that we’ve ever pursued.
In the eternal Kingdom, Jesus makes everything better.
Whether the thought of no more marriage fills your heart with regret or rejoicing, or whether you’re single now and loving or hating it, remember this. In the Kingdom, Jesus takes everything to new levels, because it’s all about Him.
And when you’re walking with Him, that Kingdom life can start today.
May you choose to live as if everything in your life is about Jesus, because in reality, it is. And, may you find hope today as you meditate on this truth: Jesus is making everything new.
