God’s Hope for Your Heart from Psalm 8
GOD HAS MADE YOU GLORIOUS
When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?
Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.
(Psalm 8:3-5)
Modern telescopes have revealed incredible, glorious things about the universe, but the heavens are not God’s greatest achievement.
The moon is vitally important to life on earth, affecting the tides in powerful ways, but it is not God’s most important creation.
The stars cast light across vast distances, illuminating billions of worlds over countless expanses of space, but they are not God’s most brilliant work.
You are.
You may say, “I don’t like the way I look,” but you were made in the image of God, the most lovely thing in all creation.
You may say, “I don’t feel like what I do matters,” but you were chosen to carry the image of God for the glory of God, the most important task in the universe.
You may say, “I don’t feel like I’m worth very much,” but you were worth the life of the Son of God, poured out to redeem you and restore God’s image in you, and that is the most valuable price that could ever be paid.
Don’t let Satan’s lies drag you in to feeling down about yourself. Believe God’s truth, that you are a bearer of His image, and that means you can have incredible hope because of this truth: God has made you glorious.
