God’s Hope for Your Heart from Matthew 9
JESUS HAS COMPASSION FOR YOU
And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the Kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When He saw the crowds, He had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. (Matthew 9:35-36)
Do you ever feel “harassed and helpless?” Do you ever feel like you don’t have clear direction for your life, and aren’t sure where to go or what to do?
Jesus feels your pain!
He is not some detached deity, removed from the plights of His people. He is “Immanuel,” God with us, and He cares about the details of your days.
Trust in this, that even though your moment of clarity may not come right away, Jesus is working in the background, preparing the way for His Kingdom to manifest in your life.
He loves you.
He’s with you.
He’s for you.
Not only that, but even in the midst of your uncertainty, He’s given you the chance to have a purpose for your life.
What is it? Doing what Jesus did: living with compassion for others.
You see, when you begin to live this way, you become more aware of God’s love for you in Christ. You have to, because that’s the only thing that can sustain Godly compassion for any significant length of time.
Then, as you become more aware of His love for you, it reinforces your love for others in His name. It’s a cycle that keeps on giving and leads to joy.
So, no matter how your heart feels right now, may you choose to cultivate compassion for others, and as you do, may your motivation be the hope that you have in this truth: Jesus has compassion for you.
