God will give you triumph in the end

God’s Hope for Your Heart from Psalms 9 and 10

GOD WILL GIVE YOU TRIUMPH IN THE END

The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you. (Psalm 9:9-10)

O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more. (Psalm 10:17-18)

Psalm 9 is a joyful call to praise the God who delivers, while most of Psalm 10 mourns that God’s deliverance seems nowhere to be found.

Psalm 9 sings praises for all God has done for His people, while Psalm 10 laments that it seems the wicked get the better reward.

Psalm 9 rides high on a cloud of triumph, while any clouds the writer of Psalm 10 sees are likely dark with gloom.

Do you ever feel that way?  Do you ever find yourself swinging back and forth between trust and doubt, faith and fear, hope and despair?

Take heart!  God is still with you, and He is readying deliverance and justice for all His people.

That’s the message of Psalm 10:16, “The Lord is King forever and ever; the nations perish from His land.”  The psalmist has placed his hope in God in Psalm 9, and even though he is honest about his fears and frustrations in Psalm 10, he chooses to trust in the truth: that God will win at last, no matter how bad things look now.  And, when He triumphs, then if you’re in Christ, so will you.

Whatever you face today and whatever the clouds look like in your life, may you be strengthened by the hope found in this truth: God will give you triumph in the end.
