God’s Hope for Your Heart from Acts 8
YOU ARE QUALIFIED TO SHARE THE GOOD NEWS
Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this Scripture he told him the good news about Jesus. (Acts 8:35)
Philip was in an unusual spot.
As far as we know, he had not been trained in the Scriptures. He was no religious leader or educated man. In fact, this Philip was not even one of the Apostles Jesus chose, but one of the deacons appointed in Acts 6 to help “serve tables” and help the Church in other more hands-on ways.
Now, here Philip was, in an unexpected place talking with an unfamiliar person. Yet, though he may not have been a “professional” evangelist, Philip was completely qualified to share the Good News of Jesus with the man who would eventually go back and spread the Gospel throughout Ethiopia.
Why? Because Philip was not relying on his own knowledge and experience, but on the empowering of the Holy Spirit!
Here’s some good news. If you’re in Christ, that same power is available to you, too! You can have confidence in sharing your faith with whomever God brings across your path because no matter what education or training you may or may not have, there is hope for you because of this truth: you are qualified to share the Good News.
