The Joy of Judgement (pt1)

What if “the judgement of God” was cause for rejoicing?

“Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who dwell in it! Let the rivers clap their hands; let the hills sing for joy together before the LORD, for He comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.”  –Psalm 98:7-9

“The judgement of God” is not a phrase that usually brings to mind joy and delight…but it should.

See it for a moment: that day of reckoning brings fear to some, but creation rejoices, for at last it is set free from the stain of sin that it’s borne so long.  If “the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now,” (Romans 8:22), how joyful the day when it is finally set free!

The judgement of God is the glorious setting right of all that has gone wrong with world, even for the physical creation itself.

Now, what of the people?  Is there a joy to be found in our own judgement as well?

Absolutely…
