“Do you see a person skilled in his work? He will stand before kings.” –Proverbs 22:29a
I read a proverb the other day that got me thinking… why are some people so incredibly TALENTED, but don’t make nearly as much of their lives as they could have?
Here’s an answer to consider:
The distance between great talent and great skill is work.
The distance between little talent and great skill is also work.
Some people are greatly talented. They have innate abilities that may get them farther and make their climb easier than most.
But they still have to put in the work.
Others have less talent, but a stronger desire to learn and a greater willingness to DO the work required to grow their skill.
Therefore, when it comes to developing our skill and becoming a True Success, here’s the BIGGEST difference between the people who “make it” and the people who don’t…
What matters most isn’t how much talent they do or don’t have, nor how steep or shallow their journey may be.
What matters is how willing they are to INVEST in gaining the right knowledge and APPLY it by doing the work.
Here’s why this is good news for all of us, no matter how talented we may or may not be.
Given a choice between the two, it is not the “talented” who usually succeed in the end, but the skilled.
And skill can be gained by ANYONE willing to invest IN it and work FOR it.
Invest wisely.
