Jesus is faithful through generations

Scripture Notes on 2 Timothy 1

I thank God whom I serve, as did my ancestors, with a clear conscience, as I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day… I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.  (2 Timothy 1:3, 5)

We often think about the value and importance of training children to be faithful to Jesus. Yet, at a deeper level, the reality is that it is Jesus who is faithful to them.

As God the Father ordains, so Jesus the Son prepares and the Holy Spirit applies the work of redemption. God calls and draws, leads and guides, embraces and empowers people for His Kingdom, and all throughout Scripture we find that He loves to do so in whole families.

So, as you look to the past and the future of your family, whether you have a heritage of faith or you are the first link in a new chain, be encouraged by this truth.

Jesus is faithful through generations.
