God’s Hope for Your Heart from Psalm 23
IN CHRIST, GOODNESS AND MERCY CHASE YOU
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23:6)
Some of us spend our lives chasing goodness.
We feel we deserve “the good life,” so we work hard for a paycheck, look for deals on the things we think we need, and try to build up our standard of living, believing it will bring us joy.
Some of us spend our lives chasing mercy.
We feel the weight of “a bad life,” so we work hard for approval, look for acceptance wherever we think we’ll get it, and try to build up our résumé of good deeds, praying it will bring us peace.
When we come to Jesus, though, something incredible happens. As we become part of the family of God, His grace begins to work in ways that our effort could never accomplish.
Because of God’s covenant with His people, if you’ve trusted Christ for salvation, you don’t have to chase goodness and mercy anymore!
Instead, you can rest in the hope of this truth: in Christ, goodness and mercy chase you.
