God is your gracious rescuer

Scripture Notes on 2 Peter 2

and if He rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the sensual conduct of the wicked (for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, he was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard); then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials… (2 Peter 2:7-9a)

The story of Lot in Genesis 19 is one of a man who was deeply flawed. He was foolish in where he chose to live, argumentative with God, and was willing to all but sacrifice his own daughters for the sake of his reputation.

Yet, God rescued him anyway.

Christian, God’s call to you is to live a life of holiness according to His Word, but know this. Even when you totally fail, if you’re in Christ, God’s grace still remains on you!

Always do your best to follow Him and obey His Word, but remember this, too. No matter how well or poorly you perform, you can find comfort in this truth.

God is your gracious rescuer.
