God is much bigger than your problems

Scripture Notes on Psalm 99

The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble!
He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake!
The Lord is great in Zion;
He is exalted over all the peoples.
Let them praise your great and awesome name!
Holy is he!
(Psalm 99:1-3)

Your problems are only too big to handle if your god is too small to handle them.

Are you trusting in pop psychology and positive thinking to rescue you?  They are too small.

Are you looking to a twelve-step program or a seven-step process to be your ultimate victory?  They are too small.

Are you hoping that if you can just do better, try harder, work smarter or stay longer that you will be able to overcome?  You are too small.

These can all be good things, but they will be insufficient to truly deliver you.

Your money will not be enough, no matter how much you have.

Your friends and family will not be enough, no matter how true they are.

Your insight and education and intelligence will not be enough, no matter how deep they go.

Your good intentions and sincerity will not be enough, no matter how pure they may be.

But God is greater than all.

God is bigger.  God is stronger.  God is more faithful.  God is more steadfast.  God is more glorious.  God is more majestic.  God is more powerful.

God laughs at the size and scope of your problems, because He is infinitely bigger than they could ever be!  So, if you’ve been reconciled to God through Christ, you can laugh at them, too.

Be encouraged and empowered by this powerful truth.  No matter how big they appear, God is bigger than your problems.
