Scripture Notes on 1 Thessalonians 1
For we know, brothers loved by God, that He has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. (1 Thessalonians 1:4-5a)
Have you ever been not chosen for something? Perhaps a job or promotion or award or relationship you deeply desired simply didn’t come your way. It went to someone else. They were chosen, not you.
But God has chosen you.
If you’re in Christ, a believer in the Gospel, that is evidence not of your great goodness in picking God, but of God’s amazing grace in picking you. It’s proof that no matter what anyone else says, regardless of who does or doesn’t want you by their side, Jesus wants you by His.
If you’re in Christ, be encouraged by how valuable you are to Him, and rest in this powerful truth.
God has chosen you.
