Jesus has a faith that’s just for you

God’s Hope for Your Heart from Matthew 3

JESUS HAS A FAITH THAT’S JUST FOR YOU

Do not presume to say to yourselves, “We have Abraham as our father,” for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham. (Matthew 3:9)

Your family doesn’t have to define you.

No matter how bad they are, how dysfunctional, or how messed up, in Christ, you can be raised up and set free no matter what your family history!

This also means your family cannot save you.

Having a godly heritage is a great gift, to be sure, but at the core of the Gospel is the important reality that to truly be saved, you must receive Jesus for yourself. You need your own repentance, your own salvation, your own relationship with God through Christ.

You cannot be “grandfathered into” or “grandfathered out of” the Kingdom of God. You cannot expect your parents’ faith to save you, but you also have no need to fear that your family might condemn you, either. Your relationship with Jesus is just that: yours.

That means that nobody else can take your faith, no circumstance has to steal your joy, and you can find hope in this glorious truth: Jesus has a faith that’s just for you.
